TIM & REYNE

Old Friends, Montana Hospitality & Finally… Silence

One of the greatest gifts of this journey has been the opportunity to reconnect with friends from different chapters of our lives.

When our travels brought us to Ennis, Montana, we had the chance to spend time with our friends Tim and Reyne, formerly from Pleasanton and now happily settled beneath Montana’s big skies.

They welcomed us — and, of course, their boxer Beau was there to make sure we received the proper greeting — into their gorgeous, warm log-style home.

After so much time on the road, their home gave us something we were definitely ready for: a place to slow down.

We unpacked, repacked, reorganized YOLA and caught up on some much-needed website work with our amazing web designer, Todd.

Meanwhile, Tim went into full fix-it mode.

YOLA had a bent tailgate that needed attention, and then there was *the noise*.

For nearly three months, an annoying sound from the skid plate had followed us down the road. Different fixes had helped temporarily, but somehow that irritating noise kept coming back.

Tim got to work, helped solve the problem and then came the moment Kristi had been waiting months to hear:

“Silence.”

No clunk. No rattle. No mysterious noise coming from underneath YOLA.

Kristi was elated. Apparently, silence really can be golden — especially when you’ve been listening to a skid plate for three months.

While Tim was helping take care of YOLA, Reyne was equally excited to share the beautiful corner of Montana they now call home.

But some of our favorite memories from the visit weren’t complicated at all.

Dinners. Music. Conversation. Laughter. Time with old friends.

Those simple moments became the heart of our stay.

Tim and Reyne, thank you. Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us, giving us a place to slow down and regroup, helping us get YOLA back in order and sharing a little piece of your Montana life with us.

And Beau, thank you for making sure we never forgot who really ran the place.

We arrived in Ennis needing a place to pause. We left refreshed, reorganized, grateful — and perhaps most importantly to Kristi — with a wonderfully quiet skid plate.

Sometimes the most meaningful stops on a journey aren’t really about the places at all. They’re about the people who make you feel at home.
