One of the beautiful things about beginning our YOLA journey through California was reconnecting with people who have been part of our lives for many years.

While visiting our dear friends Rae and Bill in Penryn, California, our longtime family friends Anita and Ken, who now live in Lincoln, drove down to spend the evening with us.

It had been far too many years since we had seen them, but it didn’t take long before it felt as though no time had passed at all.

We gathered around the table for a comforting Italian dinner of spaghetti with meat sauce and plenty of garlic bread — delicious food, shared memories and the kind of evening that reminds you how special longtime friendships can be.

Anita and Ken, thank you for making the drive to spend time with us. And Rae and Bill, thank you for bringing everyone together around your table.
